Annihilation of Caste Act

Legislating the Annihilation of Caste

What is the Annihilation of Caste Act?

The Annihilation of Caste (AoC) Act is an advocacy initiative of the Centre for Annihilation of Caste calling for the enactment of an omnibus law titled the “Annihilation of Caste Act” as a legislative pathway to annihilate the caste system and prevent its subsequent salvation. This, together with the constitutional amendment titled the “Annihilation Amendment”, would constitute a legislative package for the annihilation of caste. This serves as our principal policy proposal for every policy problem involving caste.

What is Mission 2036?

Year 2036

The year 2036 will be of immense significance to us, as it marks the 100th anniversary of the publication of Dr. Ambedkar’s seminal work, Annihilation of Caste (1936).

Mission 2036

Our mission is to effectively annihilate caste and caste-based discrimination by the year 2036. We aim to achieve this by advocating for the enactment of the Annihilation of Caste (AoC) Act before the year 2036. No further rationalisation of the reservation policy will be permitted until this goal is realised. This act of annihilation will be our tribute to Dr. Ambedkar.

Drafting the Annihilation of Caste Act

The Centre for Annihilation of Caste is currently preparing the first draft of the Annihilation of Caste (AoC) Act. Enacting such legislation requires broad consensus among all sections of society affected by the caste system. Building this consensus demands intensive socio-legal research and extensive consultation with these communities. We are currently undertaking the required socio-legal research while building consensus around the need for such legislation. The first draft of the Annihilation of Caste (AoC) Act will be released by the Centre for Annihilation of Caste in due course.
